NEW BLOGGER ALERT: Well, I’m not super new. I’ve had a few blogs before this one. Typical, right? It’s always fun thinking up & physically starting a new bog, but the challenge definitely lies in the consistency of posting & engaging.
I’d like to take a moment, right now, to thank the Universe for all of the life events I have experienced thus far: I’m convinced the Universe has been teaching me the ways of success the past few years. & I’m here today to say “Universe, thank you for all of your lessons. I’m ready to leave my mark.” I haven’t properly introduce myself on this blog, so don’t mind the story above this. We’re about to get into the real point of this post.
I know this outfit post may seem a bit irrelevant, but I’ll be honest, I really liked the outfit I wore on Father’s Day. I loved my outfit, actually. For many reasons: I felt beautiful. I felt fierce. I felt like I could take over the world, given the opportunity. This is how I love to feel when walking the concrete jungles of NYC.
The base of this outfit is definitely the Romper. I love this thing – mainly because I only spent 5 bucks on it at the thrift store. TIP: Thrift stores are bomb. Want pieces no one else has? Shop there. I’m convinced after wearing this piece that having a romper, at least one, is a necessity in every girls closet. It’s the perfect piece to just throw on & style according to your mood. I can see myself styling this one piece in many different ways. That’s, in my book, an essential in my closet. I didn’t take any photos of just the romper, but just so y’all know, it’s pretty short & has spaghetti straps, so there’s a lot of skin showing.
Even though I am a momma to a beautiful 10 month old baby girl, I believe that there’s nothing wrong with showing SOME skin. Key word, some. TIP: TOP or BOTTOM? If I want to show lots of leg, I always cover up on top. & vice versa. I happen to love my legs, so I show them off, a lot. Covering up on top is usually the way I go, but the choice, my friend, is yours. I decided to cover up with my floral kimono.
I know it might seem scary mixing prints, but it’s literally one of my favorite things to do with fashion. The key? Finding a common color. TIP: Mixing prints is super easy, just make sure that all of the prints you are using has a common color. This tip is my favorite fashion tip I’ve ever learned. You’re welcome.
Another essential in your closet: comfortable, cute black booties. I know this is a given, but if you DO NOT own a pair of black, ankle booties, do yourself a favor & buy a pair. You’re life will change forever, I promise. Black literally matches with everything, the small, thick heel makes walking easy, and your outfit will instantly become more dressier. Can’t forget that if you happen to have really nice legs, your calves will thank you. TIP: Treat yo self. In more ways than one.
Statement Bag: this is definitely another essential. I’m not saying that you need to buy this specific bag, but INVEST in a bag that represents your style completely. Bags are a tad bit on the pricier side. But with this fashion piece, I don’t think there’s anything wrong with investing your money. TIP: QUALITY > QUANTITY. This bag is going to be the perfect summer bag for me because fringe is equivalent to what my life represent.
I apologize for the lack of jewelry photos on this post. I’m slowly, but surely, embracing my love for jewelry. I’ve always had a love/hate relationship with these types of accessories; I never found pieces that ‘fit’ me. It makes sense why I started making my own jewelry.
Earrings are my latest obsession jewelry wise. I love wearing them only in my left ear. I usually like to wear a pair of earrings, sometimes one depending on my mood, in that ear. It’s my thing. Don’t ask.
