Those low points in life – they’re forever causing stress, heartache, maybe even slight depression. And no matter how hard you try to overcome your obstacle, you find yourself worse than before.
You’re allowed to feel down. Allowed to feel like there’s no hope. You should always permit yourself the time to feel. Even when the feelings aren’t great. You’re human, and you’re meant to handle rough roads. How else are you suppose to grow? Get stronger? Find YOU?
Give yourself the green-light to get lost for a bit. Once you find the path in that dark, dim world that is your thoughts, the directions to yourself will follow.

Maybe it’s the super laid back vibe they give off, or maybe it’s the fact that they literally feel like you’re wearing your jammies – or it could be both. Nonetheless, I’m obsessed with this super, duper, totally relaxed, casual trend.
I’ve been caught wearing my oversized tee with heels – adding heels gives the overly slouchy top a more feminine feel.
But for today’s post, I wanted to really play around with the roughed up, lived-in look.
Sublime is definitely one of my favorite bands of all time – whenever I listen to them, I am automatically put in a good mood. When I saw this tee at my job during an overnight shift, I just knew it would be the perfect slouchy band tee.
To give this top some edge, I added my HUF socks. There are many reasons why I love my HUF socks, but the main reason? They always add the perfect amount of honest sass to my outfits. For that true Urban, New York look, I threw on my Timberland boots. I swear I always feel like I can kick ass when rocking ’em.
To cover up on this breezy, summer night, I completed the look with a semi-oversized denim jacket. It’s a true essential in my closet.
There’s only one more outfit left in my June Denim Diary series. I hope you’ve been enjoying my denim inspired looks! This next one is definitely my favorite look!
It’s actual birthday is on Wednesday, but since I already have a post schedule for then, today is just gon’ have to do!
To celebrate, I decided to dedicate this post to some of my favorite shots from this past year. I have experienced so much growth on so many different aspects of my life since starting my blog – I’m super excited to see where this next year will take me.
Off-the-shoulder is definitely one of my favorite trends this season. It’s literally all over the runaways and street style blogs. There’s just something inevitably delicate about exposed shoulders – it’s dreamy.
I’ve been dying to get my hands on a perfect off-the-shoulder top to style endlessly this spring/summer season. I found this one at my job for less than 20 bucks! I love how dainty white can be & with the added ruffle, it has the ultimate boho vibe.
To style this top, I decided to pair it with boyfriend jeans. I honestly love being able to flaunt feminine vibes with loose fitting clothing. There’s just something so powerful about being able to feel beautiful in non-fitting clothing. Am I the only one who feels that way?
I wore my Steve Madden wedges to give my outfit a more clean feel. With all of the bagginess going on, the contrast from the shoes is what ties the look together. I added casual accessories to keep my outfit brunch date appropriate – beaded jewelry is always my go to! I simply love how sassy jewelry can make you feel: it’s the world of sassy self expression! Headscarves have been really fun to incorporate into my outfits, too. I need to pick up a few more and start playing around with different designs. This headscarf game is real.
How would you style this off-the-shoulder top? Let me know in the comment section down below!
I have been wanting to style my boyfriend jeans in a blogpost for the longest and since June is denim month over on my blog, I couldn’t help but go for it!
I am jumpsuit obsessed – and my new job doesn’t help my obsession AT ALL.
I started a new position at Old Navy for Visual Styling and Merchandising and never have I ever loved a retail job as much as I love this one. I was sucked into the retail world right after high school, needing the extra cash to support myself through my college years. At the time, I dreaded it – working for a larger company can make you feel unmotivated, and can definitely make you feel stuck in a rut. But Visual Styling & Merchandising is a world that I am absolutely in lovewith. Styling because hey, my name is Glendaly and I have a fashion blog. Y’all know my love for styling outfits is real. Merchandising, though, is a field in the retail world that I’m starting to explore – it’s interesting trying to figure out what will sell best in the floor plan. It’s the technical work behind the master business plan & as someone who wants to eventually own their own boutique, being able to learn the ins-and-outs of visuals is a blessing.
Another bonus: being surrounded by cute, fun clothes. The inspo never ends! Old Navy has definitely stepped their game up; they’re not your typical mom shop anymore. They are totally fashion forward at an affordable budget. My favorite thing, though? Being able to pick up inexpensive looks for the whole family! As a working momma on a budget, being able to keep my entire family looking fashionable while being able to afford it is bomb.
This denim jumpsuit was a piece I fell in love with immediately the day it came into my store. I knew for a fact that it would sell out super quick. I’m so glad I was able to get my hands on it because this is one piece that can be styled in various ways. It’s the beauty of jumpsuits – they can be dressed up or down, for almost any occasion. Any piece that can give me variety is a piece I need in my closet. It also makes me feel really funky, any clothing piece that can make me feel like a burst of fashionable sunshine is a piece for me.
Disclaimer: I am NOT sponsored by Old Navy, I just work there. I do, however, recommend giving their current collections a chance – the current sales are insane.
During the first week of May, I met up with my friend and fellow Fashion Blogger, Melody Rosa, to do an interview dedicated to my motherhood. It was such a lovely experience and I seriously cannot wait to collaborate with Melody again!
Thank you, Melody, for dedicating a post to me the week of Mother’s Day. I’m beyond honored.
We both collaborated on the styling: Melody was awesome enough to let me raid her closet to pick out outfits. She added in her favorite shoes & accessories throughout the entire process.
Oh, and she also had wine at hand the entire time – and boy, was that much needed. Wine & fashion? Yes & yes.
Here are some of my favorite photos from this collaboration:
With tomorrow being the NY primaries, I wanted to write up a quick post on the importance of voting.
Be the change you wish to see in the world. – Gandhi.
Thank you, Gandhi – this is the quote that inspires a lot of my life actions.
According to statistics, folks between the ages of 18-29 are the least likely to vote. We outnumber past generations – we should be using that to our advantage!
This election is one that we need to keep tabs on. It will deeply affect the way our country functions and will indefinitely impact the future of our kids. Seriously. It’s why I’m pro Bernie. He’s fighting for things that are a lot bigger than what the other candidates are promising. He is fighting for the unjust systems our country thrives on. The systems that benefit the one percent. He’s fighting for the rights for all minorities – you being black, Latino, Middle Eastern – you name it. He’s being the change WE need to see in the world.
I recently picked up this tee from Wicked Clothing, I featured it in my last haul video which you can watch here, and decided to dedicate a post to it.
Darien also picked up these Bernie Nail Decals for me, too. He knows how to make a girl happy.
Of course, you are entitled to vote for whoever, but me? I’m team Bernie.
On December 15th, I started the Parsons x Teen Vogue Fashion Essentials Online course. I am seriously blessed to be able to dive into the business world of fashion through this course – I don’t really get that fix fashion gives me when I’m taking the theater classes at my University. This online course consists of 5 different classes, and I am beyond stoked to finally be done with the first one!
It’s recommended that you take 2 weeks to complete each class, but luckily, they give students a full year to complete the entire course. With my busy, busy schedule, that’s definitley something I consider a blessing.
The first class is all about Visual Styling – expect another outfit post next week formatted very similar to this post. The assignment that inspired these series of photographs was based on a mood board I was assigned to create on Pinterest. The mood board was inspired by the aesthetics and fashion/styling images that described me. Since I am a lover of the urban, bohemian vibes, it came as no surprise that my Pinterest board screamed “Urban Queen.”
Creating the Pinterest board was the first assignment – next up, we had to create an image, or a series of images in my case, that reflect the mood board.
Here is a screen shot of my mood board:
Since this is a fashion course, and I obviously have a fashion blog, I wanted to really showcase my inspired outfit with a full blog post – thus this post that you’re currently reading. Here are the images that were inspired by my mood board:
I absolutely love how these photos came out! I want to give a huge thank you to my best friend, and photographer, Oscar, for capturing my vision. There’s nothing but good vibes whenever we work together.
What do you think of my outfit/aesthetic? Does it honestly reflects my mood board?
Would you be interested in me doing a full-on review on the course when I complete it? Please let me know down bellow – I would love to know!
Thank you so much for stopping by. Sending my love!
I’m a bit late on the ‘boyfriend jean’ bandwagon, I wont lie.
BUT, in my defense, they are intimidating – I never saw myself as the type of gal who could pull off the ‘boyfriend’ look, especially with having hips & a bit of a booty. Thank you, mama. To my surprise, I found that they are actually very fun to style. There are endless amounts of ways to rock ’em, really, & I dig it. As far as styling goes, I normally like being super baggy when rocking my BF jeans: wearing an oversized tee while wearing booties or heels to fem up the look is my go-to.
Side Note: I am currently playing around with tighter silhouettes when it comes to rocking my BF Jeans – definitely stay tuned for future outfit posts featuring them! Side Side Note: I recently went thrifting & found a distressed pair, those will also be featured soon.
What are your favorite ways to style your boyfriend jeans? Please feel free to comment down below!
I hope you had an amazing weekend! Did you get hit by blizzard Jonas? We did – Brooklyn got hit with over 2 feet of snow! It was insane, but awesome – expect a mini vlog/open journal on the blizzard, Darien and I ended up exploring Brooklyn after the storm calmed.
In mid-January, I came across the Instagram page The Bald Movement. I was immediately intrigued by it because as a newbie in the bald community, I couldn’t have thought of better inspiration to pop up on my feed. An event that they were hosting, a Vision Board Party, was their latest upload and I was stoked to see that it was being held right here in Brooklyn. I was a bit anxious about attending the event alone so I wasn’t sure if I really wanted to go, but either way, I took a screenshot of the flyer and put down my phone. About a week later, while browsing Event Brite, I came across the same event, and took that as my sign to go. I’m really happy I decided to go because my life has completely changed since then!
We spent the evening sharing our stories while creating vision boards inspired by our aspirations for 2016. It was an experience that has forever changed me in really understanding the meaning of self love & accepting your inner beauty. All of these bald women stood tall and confident in their skin, and it was an aura I am blessed to have found myself in. By the end of the night, everyone was all smiles and laughs. As a thank you, the creator of The Bald Movement, Nell Coleman, gave everyone a pink ‘Baldie’ beanie. Pink is normally a color I never wear, but I Immediately thought of it as the perfect accessory to add a spunky ‘pop-of-color’ to almost any basic outfit. I was ecstatic to play around with it!
Coleman told us what Baldie really stood for – it’s the motivation that drives the entire Bald Movement:
It’s an incredible message and the reason why I’m a proud supporter of The Bald Movement. The mission that Coleman sets off is: “To unite, support, and empower one another to embrace the essence of being BALD” no matter how or why we are bald. Coleman is doing amazing things with this movement & I am excited to grow along side it!
As a thank you for the beanie, I decided to style an outfit post around it. I asked one of my closest college friends, Javarr, to join me in this shoot because 1. I haven’t seen him in forever & thought it’d be fun to do a little shoot with him. 2. I love his style, and 3. His apartment has the perfect ‘Brooklyn’ feel. Being a Brooklyn Baby, adding urban elements to my shoots is extremely important. Kudos to my photographer and BFF, Oscar, for always knowing my vision.
An all-black ensemble was the first outfit combo that popped into my head when I first received the beanie. I love how this over-sized thrifted men’s top fits me like a dress; I’ve been really into this look – it has this super chill, 90s urban vibe. I decided to rock my black ankle booties with this outfit because they are literally my go-to’s and for a touch of fierce, I wore my large hoop earrings and a bold, bright pink lip to match the hat. I feel a lot more confident & am a lot more in touch with my femininity, since being bald. I love how having no hair allowed me to really be comfortable in my skin – I’m stoked to grow & really encourage the Baldand beautiful movement.
I hope you enjoyed the photos & have checked out & followed The Bald Movement. Sending my love your way!
