The Art of Self Portraits feat. Goia Boutique | GCeeStyle

You know that stereotype: Fashion Blogger + Photographer Boyfriend? I, yes I, am that stereotype. My boyfriend, Darien, has been my personal photographer for the past 8 years. We’ve both grown a lot in that time creatively; picked up on each others aesthetic & learned how to compliment them. I have to admit, it’s a true blessing.

But our day jobs don’t always align with each other – on days when he’s gone & I need to get work done, I shoot alone. & I don’t mind it either.untitled (6 of 7)It’s a bit of a challenge, especially since I do NOT have a Cannon remote to take pictures while posing. Still, I typically have a lot of fun doing it and have thought about doing self portraits more often just to see what I can create. A typical, solo shoot consists of me, a stool to help focus my camera [I do shoot in RAW manual] & a quick sprint to get into position and pose. By the end, I’m usually sweating like I finished a full workout.

Here are a series of shots I took for the Etsy Shop Goia Boutique featuring their handmade headband. Paisley print is a classic – adding the print to an accessory such as a headband is such a lovely, unexpected twist. I paired the headband with a thrifted green button top. I wanted to make the headband pop and using a contrasting color really draws the eyes to my upper half. To play up the feminine vibe, I buttoned the top just enough to create an off-the-shoulder situation. I’m really happy with the combo of these two. Very fem and girly.

I tied the look together with my Super High Rise Skinnies from Urban Outfitters, which was also thrifted. I threw on my thick brown belt, again thrifted, & tied the whole look together with my H&M black Platform booties.untitled (4 of 7)untitled (2 of 7)untitled (7 of 7)untitled (1 of 7)Thank you, Goia Boutique, for sending over this headband. I love the color, pattern and my favorite thing: it’s handmade! The quality is superb and I can see this being an accessory that both my little and I can rock. My little is 4 years old & she’s already claimed ownership of the headband. ūüėÖ ūüôÉ *Photos to come soon.

I’m thinking of maybe filming a video showing a little behind the scenes action of what I do when shooting my self portraits/creating content in general. Please let me know if it’s something you’d like to see!

Thank you for stopping by! Have a wonderful weekend!

Falling for Fall.

It’s that time of year – the leaves are changing, warmer tones everywhere; It’s in the air.¬†

Our Autumn.

The variety of colors and shades we’re given provides a full season of inspiration. Add layering and it’s a fashion lover’s paradise. By mid-summer, typically, I’m itching for the cooler months.

Being a New York Native, I can’t help but completely switch my wardrobe to sweaters, boots & jackets by early October. The weather here in FL has proven otherwise – I’ve been forcing the sweater weather attire more than most Floridians. It’s November & we’re still getting hit with 80 degree days!

Thankfully, it has been getting cooler during the early mornings & evenings. That gives me a few hours per day to rock my jackets with good reason. I’ve been really into rocking my Moto Jacket, as of late. I love how it toughens up a look without trying hard. Mine is from Members Only – they were kind of enough to gift it to me last year. It’s officially a staple for me this Fall season.

I’ve been really digging the turtle neck under sweatshirts look – I wanted to give it a try with the pieces I already have in my closet.

Pink mock neck top is from Top Shop: Because it’s cropped, it’s super easy to layer with. Bernie Tee: I literally live in this tee – even sleep in it. No lie. I wanted to play up the pink details in the tee with the crop underneath.

I’m wearing thrifted shorts underneath because I like to feel protected.

Over-The-Knee Socks are from Urban Outfitters: I’ve had these in my closet since early College. About 6 years ago – yeah.

Bag is from Brandy Melville: it’s a black Suede cross body detailed with fringe. This piece I’ve also had since my early college days & it’s still in perfect condition. TIP: Investing in timeless pieces will last you multiple seasons.

Trusy Ol’ Vans: Because you can never go wrong.

Have you tried out this trend? What are your favorite ways of styling it? Please let me know down below!

Happy Wednesday –

My countdown to Florida is official: 1 more week. 7 more Days. 168 more hours. Too much?

I haven’t had the time to update the blog, but, incase you missed it, I did upload a full update video on my YouTube channel¬†here.¬†Due to certain circumstances, Darien and I have found that New York City just isn’t the place for us right now. It took me some time to adjust, but I’m ready for this new chapter in my storybook. While I’m still in the Big Apple, though, I’ve been hustlin’, harder than ever. Expect my next few posts to be based in NYC & collaborative.

I recently did a shoot with Amanda-Lee – also knows as @a_leethal¬†on Instagram – who’s actually¬†the first female photographer I’ve ever worked with. Needless to say, the #pussypower was real.

As far as the styling goes: this look was 100% inspired by Darien.

GLO’ UP. | January 2017 Collage

Happy Hump Day:

The first half of 2016 was filled with monthly collages. I simply love how they gave me a burst of inspiration! I am one who is always inspired by everything I encounter, however, I find that it’s always nice to refine that constant inspiration onto one board.

Pinterest is a perfect way to have a mess-free board.*

I wanted to get back into the flow of making collages:

Welcome, Twenty Seventeen.

I’ll catch ya on my next post,

Another late collage & wish list, I know.

But life’s been really real on my end. I’m going through some life changes. Unexpected life changes. I promise I’ll be filming an update video soon – I need a good vent session! I’m just waiting for a few more things to fall into place.

On to the purpose of this post:

March Collage & Wishlist

Happy Monday:

I’m here with another monthly Collage and Wishlist! These posts have quickly become one of my favorites to post. I genuinely enjoy flipping through old magazines & pasting pictures together to reflect my current inspirations. As you’ll see, I’m seriously dying for spring to make its arrival – and stay for a bit.

SPRING FEVER

Collage 2

I have a serious case of the winter blues. Though New York has had a few days of Spring, global warming keeps coming back, hitting us with 30 degree weather and snow…in April. As I’m typing this post up, it’s gloomy, cold and rainy outside. Since I still have time to prep for my Spring Wardrobe, I decided to take on the challenge of creating my own capsule collection. As I’ve gotten older, I’ve realized that having an abundant amount of clothes has honestly made it harder for me to get dressed in the morning. I find that I gravitate towards the same clothes all the time – do I really need those 15 tops that I never even glance at? This collage has a few pieces that I already own, and some pieces I hope to find via thrift store & DIY within the next few week. All I’ve been thinking about are the endless amount of outfits I can create this spring season. This is going to be my season – I am a May baby, so this is technically my season. Expect a lot of fashion videos and posts this Spring, my creative juices have been flowing non-stop!

SPRING AWAKENING

Spring Awakening.

This is an outfit I’ve had in my mind for a few weeks now. I’m on the hunt for the perfect off-the-shoulder top, but I can’t seem to find it anywhere. I recently picked up some silk fabric and have been playing around with my sewing machine, so I’m definitely planning on creating my own perfect top. When in doubt, make it yo’ self. My accessory game has improved tremendously since shaving bald and I seriously cannot wait to rock the boho vibes.¬† I’m forever one with the bohemian vibes.

Wishlist:

  • Denim: Boohoo Ripped BF Jeans $44
  • Top: TopShop Off-the-Shoulder Blouse $52
  • Shoes: Bamboo Chunky Heel Sandals $30
  • Bag: Montana West Western Aztec Fringe Shoulder Bag $64
  • Necklace: Leslie Danzis Glass Crystal Fringe Pendant $45
  • Headscarf: Kaly Easy Scarf $44
  • Earrings: Etsy $10
  • Nail Polish: Essie Borrowed Blue [No Price]
  • Lip: Lime Crime Buffy Velvetine Liquid Lipstick $20
  • Ariana Grande Ari Eau de Parfum Spray 3.4 oz $59

‘Till next time,
