Dope Dog. |Calming Pup Treats

gc1-9765

Happy Friday:

I love my lil’ familia.

I take pride in ensuring they’re taken care of regularly – hot meals ready by dinner time, clean covers at night, you know, the ‘everyday’ little things.

My pup Brooklyn is no exception. She’s our family dog: 10 months old & a Pit/Mastiff bull mix. We took her in when she was only a month old. One challenge we’ve continually dealt with as she grew older is her separation anxiety – and this is still something we’re working on to this day. I am very happy & pleased that her reactions to us being separate have improved; those first few nights of her staying a part from us are moments I wont ever forget. Her cries; my baby Brooklyn.

At this stage of her life, the only real separation anxiety we deal with mostly is while the hubby and I are away at work. Once we return home, Brooklyn. Goes. Crazy! That’s been the case up until recently when we tried out Dope Dog Calming Crunchies – and the results were immediate. We gave her a treat right when we left & upon returning home, she was excited – as she always is – but in a much calm, cooler & collective tone. We were immediately hooked.

Dope Dog is CA based product specializing in cannabinoid-rich hemp products. All products are tested by a third-party & are deemed safe and healthy for your pup. As someone who is a supporter of cannabis, I was more than excited to try out these products with Brooklyn. On top of being beneficial for separation anxiety, Dope Dog also helps with joint pain, epilepsy, inflammation and issues that may arise to your pup’s aging.  I have not come across a product such as this one and am very thankful to have found it – this is a much needed product in our current dog market.

Though Brooklyn doesn’t have any other issues with the exception of her separation anxiety, it’s nice to know she is being treated for the other issues prior to them becoming a problem for her.

Pura D’or Review & Shave Routine. | Video

Happy Wednesday:

A few months back, I was sent a few haircare products from a company called Pura D’or. I have haircare products italicized because if you’ve been following me for a bit, you would know that I actually don’t have hair at all. I’m a proud Baldie.

Giving love to your scalp is a necessity. Now more than ever if you’re a baldie like me. Conveniently enough, Pura D’or contacted me at the perfect moment – they offered to send me products to help with my dry scalp! I haven’t spoken about this much in my blog or YouTube channel, but since shaving bald, I noticed that I do have issues with dry scalp. It flakes every time I clip my hair and it sometimes start itching, especially when my hair is growing back in.

I’ve been using these products non-stop since receiving them – they have even become a part of my weekly routine! I decided while doing this review video, it’d be the perfect opportunity to share my weekly shaving routine.

The products they sent me are:

  • Scalp Therapy Shampoo
  • Healing Conditioner
  • Organic Anti-Aging Face Cream
  • Pure & Organic Arian Oil

Here are my thoughts on the products & my routine:

Thank you so much for stopping by!

Till Friday,

January Favorites: Fashion, Beauty & Lifestyle.

Happy Sunday:

January literally came and went in the blink of an eye. It always amazes me how fast time flies when you’re older – I was always in such a rush to grow up as a kid that I never realized how important it really is to enjoy the present. It’s why I took January off from both my blog & YouTube channel. I spent the past month giving focus to the foundation of my life, making sure things are running smoothly. I gave myself time to embrace my new look and find my inner beauty, while also giving my daughter and boyfriend my undivided attention. The break also gave me time to find new loves – and I wanted to share them with y’all! Here are the things I have been loving in the month of January:

Beauty:

BaldisBeautiful

The main thing I’ve been loving this past month is my new hairless doo. I shaved bald on Dec 28th, due to my alopecia, and I swear, it was the best decision of my life. I feel like me, and it feels amazing. I cannot wait to create new outfits that compliment this hair style for the Spring & Summer – it’s going to be so lit. For now, I’m going to stay with a buzz cut, but when the warmer weather hits, I definitely plan on shaving bald again. Because yes, bald is beautiful.

Makeup1

As far as make-up goes, the only product I have been loving this past month is Colour Pop’s Lippie Stix & Lippie Pencil in the color Grunge. It’s the perfect shade of brown, which is super trendy right now. Being priced at only $5, having amazing staying power and being awesomely pigmented, what more can you ask for in a lippie?

Fashion/Accessories:

I have been SO obsessed with this faux-fur coat. I picked it up during my last thrift trip, which you can watch here, and was a bit nervous about it because it’s totally not my style. Lately, I’ve been forcing myself to play around with it more – and it’s been really fun incorporating this piece into my wardrobe. My favorite thing about this coat is definitely the fact that I don’t need to layer heavily underneath it – I’m guaranteed warmth.

For keeping my head and neck warm, I have been loving this scarf and faux-fur hat combo. I always get compliments when I wear this hat, and it’s a serious confidence booster – I  always feel fierce when I rock it. The scarf doesn’t have a loud print, which makes it my perfect everyday scarf. Surprisingly, it matches with everything.

Earrings

Hoop earrings are an accessory I would have never worn with hair. Earrings in general were something I never saw myself wearing pre-head shave. I’ve been feeling a lot more confident bald, so rocking these statements earrings has been so much fun as of late! They make any outfit sassier and with my bald head, it immediately screams badass. I’m excited to expand my earring collection these coming months.

I released my Dead Gypsy & Co Holiday Collection on my etsy shop about a month ago and have been rocking this ‘Her’ bracelet like crazy! I love how neutral the colors are, it literally matches with everything.

Lifestyle:

Planner1
Planner2

I love planning. I love planners. And I love planner stickers. Staying organized and keeping track of my daily to-do’s is something I commit a lot of my time to. To make planning my days a lot more fun & inspiring, I printed out these planner stickers on sticker paper. I always look forward to planning my day.

I really enjoy meditating, and I have been trying my hardest to make meditation a daily routine for me. I’m still new to the community, so guided meditation’s does wonders for me! I have been obsessed with The Honest Guys’ youtube channel – I can always find a guided meditation that fits my current feelings and mood. Here is a quick 3 minute guide they recently uploaded; sit back or lay down, close your eyes, pop in your headphones and breath:

Entertainment:

Since I was on a break from school last month, I had time to sit back & binge watch some netflix. I started and finished the show Narcos, which is a Netflix original and yes, I definitely do recommend. To me, it’s a combination of Dexter & Breaking Bad, which are two of my all time favorite shows. Check it out for yourself, here’s a little trailer:

Last, but certainly not least, music.

I have been obsessed, and I mean obsessed, with both Tommy Genesis & ABRA. Both are under Father’s umbrella at Awful Records and I have seriously been playing their albums on repeat.

abra1

ABRA: Her sound is super trippy, and the imagery she uses in her music videos are simply mesmerizing. I like to think of ABRA as the HipHop/R&B version of Grimes, which literally makes ABRA my #wcw every week.

tommyg

Tommy Genesis: Tommy is the newest member of Awful Records, which is why shes dubbed baby awful. She is definitely an alternative rapper – I can see hints of MIA in her sound, which also makes Tommy Genesis my #wcw every week.

Confession: I’ve made both of ’em #wcw’s on my Instagram. On the same day. Because I am that obsessed.

What were some of your favorites last month?

Thank you so much for stopping by; sending you all of my love!

 ‘Till next time,

Beautiful Blogger Award.

Thank you so much, Ashley, for nominating me for the Beautiful Blogger Award; it’s my first nomination and I couldn’t be more excited! I really do love how caring and loving the blogging community can be – I have met so many amazingly beautiful gals through blogging. I’m so happy I decided to commit!

Ashley’s blog ranges from beauty to fashion to all things lifestyle, and she is the cutest thing ever. She is also a mama, like me, which gives her extra cool points in my book! Her blog is definitely one of my favorites, check her out here: Vivacious Lifestylin’.

The rules are really simple: The first thing you do is thank the person who nominated you. Second, you have to write 7 facts about yourself. They can be whatever your heart wants them to be, so have fun! Finally, you just have to nominate 5-10 beautiful bloggers that you love reading, and keep the tradition goin’!

Here are my 7 Facts:

  •  I am a proud mama to a 15 month old baby girl. She’s Puerto Rican, Black, and Mexican & there is no doubt that she is best friend. My bestest best friend.

Independence Day. 2015.
  •   My boyfriend and I started dating because I asked him to be my prom date our senior year of High School. We’re going to make 5 years on the 26th of this month and I couldn’t be happier.
dcgc
#tbt to 2012.
  • I have always been fashion obsessed. When I was a little girl, I would always be fascinated with my mama’s shoe collection. I remember these one pair of boots she had that had this beautiful, intricate design sewed on to it – I swear that was the moment my love for shoes came to be what it is today. As I got older and started reading magazines, I started ripping them up and taping my favorite outfits, editorials, and models onto my wall. I managed to get an entire wall covered – I was very proud of that wall.

Forever a shoe gal.
  • I was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY. But I would love to live in California, Colorado, Florida and some parts of Europe, at some point in my life.
  • I don’t like to admit it, but I’m a huge procrastinator! I try to keep my life organized through planners and making lists on my IPad.  It does help.
  • I’ve dealt with depression for a huge chunk of my life. A few years back, I made it a goal to take care of myself to ensure that I will be happy everyday, no matter what my circumstances are. I can honestly count the amount if times, on one hand, of all the bad days I’ve had so far this year.

Sunshine on Earth.
  • I have androgenic alopecia which is a genetic disease that causes hair loss. I started noticing it my senior year of high school, and it has only gotten worse since then. It got progressively worse after having my daughter. It’s my biggest insecurity but I am excited to announce that I will be shaving bald at the end of the year. The thought of being bald makes me extremely happy and I am blessed to have a partner who fully supports my decision. I am grateful for this flaw, though, because I have learned to appreciate the different forms of beauty. Beauty comes in all shapes, sizes and forms, and it is good to accept & appreciate them all.

I am excited to become the change I wish to see in the world. Bald & Beautiful.*

*I will be filming my experience of shaving bald and will also be sharing it both on YouTube and WordPress. I want to document my reactions before, during and after for both myself – it would be great to watch this experience a few years from now – but also for other women in the world who deal with alopecia. It’s something that not many people know about, and I want to share it.

Love. | Open Journal Summer ’15

Happy Wednesday:

I’ve watched a few open journal type videos on youtube and always had an interest in creating my own version. I was a bit scared at first, because it’s completely different from anything else I’ve done on my channel; it’s a lot more personal. Nonetheless, I decided to go for it.

This summer was pretty wild: I’ve experienced so much, both physically and emotionally. Self love and growth have been the stars of my summer, and I am blessed to have had all of the opportunities given to me. To be honest, I’m a bit heart broken that summer is officially over.

Becoming the mom I’ve always wanted, finding the balance of living with a partner, and learning how to love myself have been such surreal lessons I’ve learned.

I’m beyond excited to see where the fall season takes me.

Here, my open journal for Summer 2015:

Thank you for stopping by.
‘Till Friday.
